Tuuletar are a vocal folk hop group who have enjoyed a meteoric international career in recent years. Its sonorous musical world is a playground for exotic voice production techniques and beatbox rhythms alike. Tuuletar bring together Finnish folk tradition, global musical influences and urban modern music in a fresh and innovative combo.
Tuuletar released their début album Tules Maas Vedes Taivaal to great acclaim in 2016. The album has found air time all over the world and was named Ethno Album of the Year at the Emma Awards in Finland. In the following year, the track ‘Alku’ from that album soared to world fame, as it was featured in the trailer for the 7th season of Game of Thrones and in the Australian crime series Wentworth.
Tuuletar have been touring actively in recent years, with destinations including Japan, India, the USA and various places in Europe. At the Ethno Gala in January 2019, Tuuletar was given the Internationalist of the Year award.
The present concert forms part of the release tour for the album Rajatila/Borderline, released in May 2019. In Tampere, Tuuletar are joined by jouhikko wizard Pekko Käppi and singer Tuukka Haapaniemi, artistic director of the Tampere Vocal Music Festival.
